My Favorite Computing Innovation

My favorite computing innovation is virtual reality or V.R. VR has greatly improved since it was first created, and has become something for both entertainment, and maybe even research and study. VR uses the computing to create a fictional or realistic environment. It allows the user to visually go to a place without leaving their home. Virtual reality is an amazing computing innovation and has greatly improved the way that people learn and have fun.

Who Invented VR?

Virtual Reality was started in 1968 by a man named Ivan Sutherland and his student. It was a contraption placed on someone's head, and it was connected to a computer. It was usually held up by the ceiling and was uncomfortable to wear.

Purpose

Virtual Reality can be used in various ways. For example, some people might use VR as a form of entertainment. I personally often use the VR to watch 360 videos. People make various videos for the VR whether they are educational, horror, rides, or movie scenes or trailers. VR can be used to play video games and can also be used to learn. Like I said before, some people make education videos where you can learn in a more enhanced and interesting way. Professional fields might use it in their everyday work, such as the military, doctors, or some companies.

Cost

When using virtual reality, people can sometimes use extra things such as a remote to hold for somethings done on the VR, but mainly, you need a virtual reality headset or goggles. Which can vary from $20 to about $500.

Why I Like It

I like virtual reality because it is a fun way to spend time and it almost feels like you could travel to different places without leaving your home. Instead of just staring straight at a TV or computer, virtual reality allows me to look around my surroundings. I have seen VR's where I have ridden on roller coasters, haunted, fallen off a building, seen dinosaurs, and many other cool things. It gives you an experience that you may not have seen otherwise.
